Only You Remain

When nothing else remains
And my world has crumbled beneath my feet
I cry out to You Lord; and You dry my tears
And I realise all is Yours

I will trust You, trust in You
I live to glorify Your name
And even though I don't understand
I will trust in You alone

Story behind the song...
This was the first song I ever wrote, and managed to even put guitar chords to it (!). When I returned to Aberdeen after Soul Survivor, my faith was really tested. So much good happened in my first year at Aberdeen, and I think for a while I dreamed that if I was 'Christian enough' I would be free of trials. I had thrown myself into Aberdeen life to escape from being a victim in Edinburgh. What happened was that I became a victim of Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome, 3 people very close to me were taken into psychiatric care, and I became a regular visitor to A&E...and from there my Aberdeen world fell apart. Eventually I came to a point where all I could do was to cry out to God...and I had to choose to trust Him despite all the suffering going on around me...and I watched Him bring good out of the very worst of situations once again.
